An army major from Surrey has pledged to walk 1,200 miles barefoot across the US to raise money for a clinical trial that could potentially find a treatment for the developmental disorder his daughter, Hasti, has been diagnosed with.

Hasti has Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS), which is a genetic disorder that is present at birth and is due to a gene mutation.

Major Brannigan has already walked 700 miles barefoot across the UK and raised £500,000 but will continue his campaign in the US, where the treatment is being developed.

I worked closely with the family on their GoFundMe appeal and helped secure over 290 media articles in the UK press to support the appeal. Including pieces in the Independent, The Mail. The Standard, The Indy 100, AOL and hundreds of regionals. The appeal also went out on the PA news wires, BBC and Sky News.

The walk starts on Tuesday 31st August. Chris anticipates it will take 53 consecutive days to walk the 1,200 miles. Sometimes walking up to 35 miles a day.

It was surreal to find myself stood barefoot in the centre of Time Square 25 days and almost 500 miles after I started walking from Bar Harbor.

I wasn’t sure if my feet would be able to carry me all this way. In truth, it hasn’t just been my feet or my legs, I’ve been carried here by your incredible support and positivity. Without that, I’d never have made it to the heart of this incredible city.

Thank you for everything you are all doing for Hasti, it keeps my feet moving and my mind focused on the finish line.
