URGENT APPEAL: CAR T-CELL THERAPY for an ordinary 17-year-old boy trying to raise half a million pounds to save his own life.
Alviar got into Oxford University while battling a rare form of Leukemia and raised more than £500,000 in six days.
Alviar, 18, from Hertfordshire, was diagnosed with T-cell Leukaemia in 2017 aged 15 and was cared for by Great Ormond Street and UCLH hospitals.
Alviar refused to let the disease hold him back – reading, studying and taking video conferences from his hospital bed and going on to achieve 5 A*s in his A-levels in 2020.
I worked closely with the family. Coverage was secured in the Mail and the Mail on Sunday, MSN Health and the London Evening Standard.
Sadly Alviar Cohen died on 21 June 2021. His family said “We just wanted to say thank you for all of your warm support. Alviar is sadly gone… but we will all remember this remarkable experience in each one’s minds.
“Alviar planned, his memorial party at Kew Gardenon the 8th Aug with very colourful clothes, a cheerful atmosphere, and big smiles. The GoFundMe team sent bright yellow sunflowers to mark the occassion.”
