A UK nurse whose own brother was paralysed in an accident overseas set up a GoFundMe appeal for the six-year-old French boy thrown from Tate Modern viewing gallery.

Background:

The young boy (who can not be named) for legal reasons was thrown from a viewing platform at the gallery. He was airlifted to hospital after he was found on a fifth-floor roof at the gallery in a stable but critical condition.

The French youngster was visiting the UK capital with his family at the time and spent several weeks in intensive care. He suffered a bleed to the brain, fractures to his spine and broken legs and arms following the fall.

An 18 year-old man  West London man has since been charged with attempted murder at the Old Bailey.

I worked closely with the fundraiser Vicky Di Placito on the page (and the VIP team at GoFundMe) activating full comms play and setting up multiple press interviews. The campaign received blanket national coverage in the the Guardian, BBC, the Mail online, The Sun, The Mirror, The Independent, Metro, The Evening Standard, Yahoo, MSN.  With a total reach of over 100 million.

On the page his family have now thanked everyone for their donations and kind messages and say their son is making ‘amazing’ progress.

Key Results:

The campaign is one of GFM’s biggest ever media campaigns generating (to date) over 3,200 pieces of coverage with a reach of well over over £100m.

Blanket national exposure including the Guardian, BBC, the Mail online, The Sun, The Mirror, The Independent, Metro, The Evening Standard, Yahoo, MSN.

The campaign was discovered at just €300 and after pitched we saw a GDV list of over €220,000.

The page has been shared over 3,000 times.
