Courageous three-year-old little girl diagnosed with leukaemia who left behind a remarkable legacy to help other children.

The biggest appeal in GB, in April 2019, was for Esme Handley (affectionately know as little Esme Lion Heart). The incredibly brave three-year old little girl, from West Norwood, South London, (affectionately nicknamed Esme Lion Heart) was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) whilst on holiday in Greece and underwent extensive treatment but sadly lost her battle with cancer yesterday.

I worked closely with Esme’s parents Will and Rebecca on the appeal activating full comms play and issuing an official release to the media. It received blanket online national coverage and broadcast interest from ITV and Channel 5 news. The appeal tripled its donations after media support and continues to keep rising.

Very sadly Esme Handley passed away on the 1st January 2020.
