“Dear Jane, I wanted to thank you for the way you have handled this campaign. I am grateful for the sensitive and compassionate way you have helped us during this terrible time. You have dealt with this in a professional and diligent way for which we will all be eternally grateful…”
A HEARTBREAKING GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign to help the Chaffe family from Derby after 31-year-old Aiden Chaffe died in a tragic skydiving accident in Nottingham.
The experienced, professional skydiver was on a training exercise when he misjudged a ‘swooping’ manoeuvre and landed too low and too hard and very sadly died on impact. Aiden previously had made over 1000 jumps, and was employed as a tandem skydiving instructor, working with his father Bryn Chaffe (54), from Teeside who is also a professional skydiver.
I worked closely with Aiden’s father Bryn, controlling the story with an approved release and then breaking the news to the media. I also set up a whole interview day with multiple national newspapers and TV. The story received extensive national coverage and was syndicated across the regional media as well.
